kitchen components; pieces of the puzzle in focus…

so, we’re just about to move forward with our kitchen build out, and i wanted to clear my mind about the different pieces of the design puzzle we’re working with… this part of the house has been two years in the making; we’ve saved, decided, re-decided and then finally made up our minds… we’re in the midst of ordering lumber for the cabinets matt will be making, and i’m double checking the design and finalizing materials…

we’re taking a gorgeous Ralph Lauren color, Surrey, for our cabinets, but using Benjamin Moore Natura Paint, which had low/no VOC’s…

countertops will be black walnut butcher block…

we found an amazing 1940’s concrete farm house sink in a neighboring village, which is 14″ deep and 48″ wide, which we’ll use to hide all of our dinner party dishes, and maybe take a bath in besides…

we went with an industrial wall mount pre-rinse style faucet, with a low flow spray nozzel for water conservation; i’ll eventually change out the chemistry lab handles for more aesthetically pleasing ones…

for our stove, we decided to switch to gas, and we scored an amazing top of the line version from a couple in NYC who don’t cook and wanted to replace theirs with a newer model…

for our refrigerator, we again scored thanks to craigslist, and  got an amazing energy star stainless fridge with so much space i am constantly shocked… we have friends come up from the city often, and i am so pleasantly surprised everytime all of our groceries actually fit and don’t have to be relegated to coolers or the back porch…

again, we benefited from craigslist and got an awesome energy star dishwasher; our first, i can’t wait to save all that water, and do none of those post party dishes…

so, the last thing on the list is all the lighting, which we are still working on;  i’ll have to update you … stay tuned
